Kevin P. McGovern Kevin P. McGovern, is a partner of the Firm and brings many years of experience in government to his practice of labor law. Most recently he held the position of Director of the Governor’s Office of Employee Relations and was principally responsible for maintaining cooperative labor relations between the State of New Jersey and the majority representatives of over 60,000 State workers. He served in this capacity in the administrations of Governor James McGreevey, Governor Richard Codey and Governor Jon S. Corzine. During his years of private practice, Mr. McGovern represented labor unions in both the public and private sector including Police and Fire Unions, Corrections Officers, Teamsters, Operating Engineers, and Electrical Workers, as well as office and professional employee unions. Mr. McGovern’s experience also includes representing Boards of Trustees of large multi-employer benefit plans and serving as lead counsel against delinquent employers in federal court. He has argued before our State Courts at every level, including the New Jersey State Supreme Court. Mr. McGovern has been published in the Labor and Employment Law Quarterly. He has been a guest lecturer for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education. He also has been invited to speak at the Public Employment Relations Commission Conference on behalf of both labor and management. Mr. McGovern graduated Magna Cum Laude from Seton Hall University and received his Juris Doctorate from Rutgers University Law School – Newark where he was a member of the winning team in the 1993 Nathaniel Baker Mock Trial Competition. In 2005, Mr. McGovern was appointed by Governor Codey to the Governor’s Council on the Prevention of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, on which he continues to serve.
